Duties
- To overlook the financial and material administration of the Archdiocese
- It has the duty to advise the Archbishop on matters regarding financial policies for the Archdiocese
- To ensure a sound economy in the Archdiocese- to research into and study ways and means of maintaining and
running the Archdiocese on the a sound financial basis
- To control the income and expenditure reports producing of annual budgets estimates of the Archdiocese
- To put in place means and ways of mobilising funds for pastoral activities and to use in Archdiocesan
offices of different commissions
- Supervision of Diocesan building and their preservation
- Development and defending the Diocesan lands
- Overlooking, launching and development of economic projects for the church and related organisation
- To cater for the welfare of the Church’s personnel

Duties
- Advise the Personnel Secretary in handling issues pertaining to the employees of Mbarara Archdiocese
- Study and interpret government labor policies as effecting employees of Mbarara Archdiocese
- Ensure equity, understanding and justice between the diocese and its employees
- Periodically revise the conditions of service of employees in different departments of Mbarara Archdiocese
- Discuss the mode of recruitment to be employed for finding right people for different positions
- The commission shall handle any other matters that may be referred to them by the Archbishop

Effective evangelization will largely be realized through the forms established
pastoral structures known as commissions / councils. The pastoral hereafter referred to,
as PACO is one of those arms for evangelization.
Duties
- To appraise (assess) the way pastoral ministries are carried out to foster the
growth of Christian life in the Archdiocese of Mbarara
- To encourage the promotion of effective, initial and on-going catechesis based on sound catholic doctrine
- To integrate worthy traditional / cultural values into pastoral ministries, the liturgy and overall
Christian life (inculturation)
- To revive by forming new viable and manageable committees of the PACO, encourage the formation of
branches at Parish and Hiika levels’ and to harmonize their terms of reference and scope of activity
- The commission handles any other matters that may be referred to them by the Archdiocese

Mission: To build a society where the Gospel values of love, human dignity rule of law and

Vision: Justice and Peace Commission Mbarara Archdiocese envisions a peaceful just, harmonious and
prosperous community of God’s people in Mbarara Archdiocese, irrespective of tribal and other differences.
Duties
- To study in depth, disseminate and help implement the social doctrine of the Church’s Magisterium
- To develop programmes on good governance peace justice, human rights democracy, constitutionalism and
the rule of law with a view to educating and empowering God’s people, regardless of religious affiliations
to participate actively in promoting them
- To conduct research on relevant human rights and governance issues and make the findings available to
all relevant non government and government institutions for appropriate action
- To create and strengthen networks with all key stakeholders both within and outside the church in the areas
of human rights peace and development by:
Providing relevant information on peace and human rights issues for the Bishop,
Diocesan Justice and Peace commission, the justice and Peace Executive Committee and others
Registering in and sharing information with some key and relevant civil society networks
and organisations in the country and other parts of the world
- To endeavour to obtain information on specific acts of injustice and violation of human rights
especially in Archdiocese and submit the findings to the relevant government institutions and to
local ordinary and the national secretariat of Justice and Peace Commission in Kampala for
remedy and possible action
